This candle, in particular, was inspired by the bowl of fennel seeds found at the Indian Garden on Ontario Street in Chicago. You take a spoonful on your way out as a digestif and natural breath freshener. 

Even without being lit, just walking into my office after I left the lid off of one of these overnight left the room with a subtle, invigorating, herbal candy smell. 

Fennel is indeed a traditional ingredient of the classic bohemian spirit.
